Role overview:
Following the successful acquisition of Highlander Computing Solutions Limited in January 2023, a business which is engaged in IT services to SME to mid-size businesses, a Business-IT centre of excellence (“CoE”) has been formed, with the Highlander entity on a path to being rebranded as “FluidOne Business IT”. In line with strategy, the acquisition has complemented the services and reach of the FluidOne business both geographically and across markets. A further IT services acquisition of Project Five Limited was made in April 2023 and now forms part of the Business-IT CoE under common management. There are further regional Business IT acquisitions in the pipeline and the plan is for the CoE to grow to a national footprint via regional branch network led by the CoE management team based in Sheffield.
The role will replace the outsource accountancy firm which currently provide accounting & tax services into the business and then lead the development of financial management, control and reporting for the CoE to the high standards required of a private-equity backed group.
We are looking for a diligent finance professional to bring finance “in house”, driving improvements and insight to the business to support commercial decision making within the CoE.
You will be a detail orientated individual who will thrive on working with a business to support their needs and help achieve their ambitions. Working across various teams this role will suit an individual who is able to translate finance to non-finance individuals and work harmoniously with senior and junior individuals alike. The group and the CoE is as fast -paced environment, so the ability to thrive under pressure and to drive performance in the team will be a key attribute.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Lead on the production and further development of management reporting, ensuring compliance with deadlines, working closely with the Group Finance Director
* Lead and advise on key performance areas within the month, driving a close meeting with local management and group management that clearly articulates the key issues in financial performance of the CoE
* Business partner the CoE senior management team and wider business to enable operators have line of sight to performance and take actions as required
* Work closely with the group business planning function to produce the annual budget for Business IT CoE, together with quarterly reforecasts
* Oversee the payroll process, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal controls
* Own the control environment, ensuring best in class controls are in place and adhered to
* Produce and review a weekly forward looking cashflow to help manage the operational cash flow of the business
* Support any requirements of the annual audit (note, the individual statutory entity does not require an ongoing audit but may form part of the group sampling on a go forward basis)
* Deal with all tax related duties, including VAT and corporate tax
* Manage a team of transactional finance professionals
