The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join our dedicated and friendly team in York and develop their IP network skills in this key area for our customers. Our network engineering team is at the heart of our support services to CYC. Multi-skilled across multiple technologies and product ranges, our engineers possess a wide range of knowledge built up over many years. Customer service oriented and driven to deliver the very best levels of suppot, our engineers take pride in their daily work. This role will report to the Senior Network Engineer and include a programme of mentored training and development to assist the individual as required, but also with a view to future progression and succession planning. The successful candidate will join the Network engineer (level 4) apprenticeship training course which is fully funded and covers the key skills required for the role. Assist senior engineers with network monitoring tasks and build experience of using network management systems. Assist senior engineers with technical installations and tests according to design documentation and project plans Gain experience under guidance of generating reports and documentation Gain knowledge and confidence to enable you to provide support and advice on general faults and queries Learn to follow documented business process and procedures e.g. Scope of Works, Risk assessments, Method Statements. Demonstrate Health and Safety awareness always ensuring a safe working environment. Provide high levels of customer service. Complete documentation in line with company standards. Certifications/Qualifications The apprentice will be required to undergo Enhanced DBS clearance (for working in public sector environments) Work towards achieving the following certifications Network engineer (level 4) Full UK driving licence. Experience : The pre-requisites to be considered for this apprenticeship you must have one of the following :- L3 Apprenticeship,Extended BTEC Diploma, IT A-level or 2 Years industry experience. Must have a desire to work in the IP network industry and have a genuine interest in technology products Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team, under guidance. Must be flexible and self-motivated taking pride in your work. Keen to develop knowledge of industry standard manufacturers products such as Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, Fortinet. Skills : Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills The apprentice will be a practical oriented person and enjoy hands on tasks both indoors and outdoors Willing to develop knowledge of business systems and mainstream applications e.g., Microsoft Office 365. Excellent team player and relationship builder Key Accountabilities Ensure assigned work is effectively delivered, completed on time, and to the required quality standards. Ensure all works are recorded using business systems and each job is signed off by the client. Ensure site Health and Safety compliance and escalate any immediate issues to line management. Provide high levels of customer service and ensure the company is always represented professionally.
