My client, a Rail Principal Contractor is recruiting for Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors for their Rail business in who are involved in a variety of Frameworks across London & SE.
The Quantity Surveyors reports directly to the Senior Commercial Manager and deals with the day-to-day commercial activities for all jobs allocated to them.
Responsibilities:
• QS to manage and keep cost to completion sheets up to date for each project.
• Internal meetings with Project Managers and Site Agents to review budgets, project costs and discuss compensation events.
• Assist with procurement, raising requisitions, sending enquiries for projects and tenders.
• Checking purchase requisitions and raising PO’s.
• QS to Prepare and submit monthly sub-contractor payments as and when required.
• Manage applications from suppliers for works completed.
• Ensure certifications have been issued by the client for works completed and liaise with accounts to produce invoices.
• QS to chasing payment.
• Produce monthly CVR’s and carry out ongoing cosy analysis.
• Approve monthly supplier invoices.
• Close out of the project commercially by the Quantity Surveyor.
Essential:
• HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent
• Previous experience of the Railway engineering industry
• Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law
• Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors,
• including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and
• accruals calculations
• Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis
• Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative
• Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to encourage and support junior members of the Commercial Team
Desirable:
Member of RICS or other relevant Quantity Surveyor professional body or working towards.
