We are currently looking for a Payroll Bureau Manager to join our thriving payroll team. This is a key position and is based at our Woking office.
This is a client-based payroll position for someone that has prior experience in assisting with the management of a team within a payroll bureau. You will be responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate processing of annual, monthly, quarterly or weekly assigned payrolls from end to end for a portfolio of clients.
The ideal candidate will also be providing support, training and development to junior and new administrators. You will also be ensuring the team adheres to procedures in place and supporting more junior members of the team with complex payroll issues as required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Accurate processing of client payrolls in particular paying attention to detail.
* Manage and monitor the implementation and roll out of quality control checks and system enhancements.
* Supervise and support the on-boarding process agreed with clients and set up payrolls on the system.
* Support the implementation of new payrolls and procedures.
* Oversee the administration of auto enrolment pensions via payroll.
* Liaising and keeping the relevant Partner that has the client relationship update to date with any issues relating to their client.
* Discussing commercial aspects of the contract with the client, for example billing.
* Inducting, training and developing junior and new administrators.
* Keeping up to date with legislation that may impact payroll processing.
* Managing any team related employee issues.
* Able to investigate and resolve payroll issues in a timely and accurate manner with minimal support.
* Support the Senior management team ensuring they are kept up to date with the team's progress.
The Person:
The successful candidate would ideally have experience of working in an outsourced team; experience of working on a high volume of payrolls and have people management including coaching and developing a team. It would also be desirable if they are CPP trained/qualified.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Strong IT skills including MS Office and databases.
* Managing a team within a payroll bureau.
* Training and coaching juniors.
* Able to carry out manual calculations and knowledge of how to submit adjustments to prior tax years if required.
* Experience in onboarding new clients including registering for PAYE schemes.
* Experience in onboarding new clients part way through a tax year.
* Managing and running complex payrolls.
* Experience of various pension providers' websites.
* Knowledgeable in administration of auto enrolment pensions via payroll.
* Full knowledge of current legislation.
* Good understanding of BACS payments, timeframes and the process.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* A team player.
* Ability to build and sustain relationships with clients.
* Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision.
* Demonstrate they are able to work to strict deadlines.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise own workload.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
