Medical Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator (Maternity Cover)
To provide quality patient care with accurate and friendly communication skills during contracted hours and provide cover during holiday/sick periods for reception staff as necessary.
Main Duties of the Job
All duties will be carried out according to training and practice guidelines, and regular updates will be provided.
Reception Duties
* Receiving and directing patients with a SMILE!
* Making appointments for patients
* Handing out medication to patients and taking correct payment
* Answering telephone and dealing with enquiries
* Processing repeat prescription requests as defined in the practice protocol
* Checking dispensed prescriptions if needed
* Filing
* Typing letters if requested
* Scanning patient correspondence and attaching to medical records
* Attaching electronic letters to medical records
* Use of computer as directed for administration work
* Leaving accurate and timely messages for clinicians
* Checking all enquiries have been dealt with and forwarding outstanding matters to the appropriate time/person
* The post holder will have the appropriate level of child protection and adult safeguarding knowledge, skills and practice required for the post and be aware of and comply with child protection and adult safeguarding policies and procedures.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in General Practice is desirable but not essential as on the job training will be provided.
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
* Basic IT Skills.
* Good Communication Skills.
* Good at Multitasking.

£11.67 to £12.21 an hour. Minimum of 25.5 hours per week. Reviewed Annually.
