Due to continued growth, opportunities have arisen for Senior EC&I Engineer to support a large UK Nuclear Sector Client on a long term contract. The position offers a hybrid work model, with a minimum of 1-2 days in the office every week, BPSS and can be Outside IR35 (pending determination).
The ideal candidate will require strong leadership capabilities to oversee and guide a team of Graduate EC&I Engineers and Designers while ensuring the successful delivery of project goals. The Senior EC&I Engineer will be responsible for the development and management of control system designs, ensuring they meet project deadlines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform the role of Senior EC&I Engineer within the project framework, assign tasks to Graduate EC&I Engineers and provide technical oversight.
* Oversee and assign tasks to EC&I Designers, ensuring project deliverables are met.
* Take responsibility for meeting project deadlines and quality benchmarks.
* Develop control system designs, ensuring they evolve appropriately through procurement and fabrication stages.
* Produce and manage CE&I design concepts (e.g., SLD’s, BCD’s, cable schedules, layouts).
* Demonstrate knowledge of control system hardware and software.
* Apply expertise in Functional Safety (BSEN 61508 & 61511) to produce designs adhering to British and European standards.
* Maintain LTQR / Technical File in line with Quality Management Systems.
* Manage subcontract suppliers and oversee the creation of CE&I technical specifications and commissioning documentation (FAT, SAT).
* Interpret and create EC&I engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
* Author engineering reports (e.g., basis of design, substantiation report, calculation reports).
* Experience in HVAC control systems is highly desirable.
* Consolidate and present design and engineering documentation for internal and client approvals.
* Support tender and contract reviews with informed technical and commercial information.
* Identify modifications to the scope of work and assist in estimating cost and contract variations.
Qualifications:
* Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC, or equivalent experience – Essential
* Minimum of 3 years in a Senior Engineer role within a highly regulated industry – Essential
* Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle - Essential
* Expertise in the design of electrical systems, low voltage control gear, and control systems - Essential
* Membership of a relevant technical/professional body - Desirable
* IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace - Desirable
* Chartered Engineering Degree - Desirable
* Understanding of drawing principles and standards - Desirable
* Proficiency in AutoCAD - Desirable
* Knowledge of Machine Safety Directives, functional safety, and HAZOP/HAZID - Desirable
* Awareness of industry standards including IEC7671, IEC61508 & ATEX intrinsic safety - Desirable
* Ability to author technical documentation and produce design deliverables - Desirable
