Registered Nurse Position Nursing Home, Alfreton, Derbyshire £19.63 p/h | Full-time Contract | Elderly & Dementia Home – Good CQC
Award winning Milford Care Group is seeking a qualified Nurse to join their team at The Meadows care home in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
The Meadows has achieved the Derbyshire Dementia Standards Award, which recognises the philosophy of the home to deliver “person-centred” care, delivered by well-trained and supported staff with the aim of ‘bringing out the best in everybody’. The Meadows also hold The Derbyshire Dignity Campaign Award and The Derbyshire End of Life Quality Award, which in order to achieve, it had to be demonstrated that excellent End of life Care was delivered in a number of ways.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good clinical skills and a passion for caring for Older Adults. Previous experience of working in a Care Home or related setting is preferable, but not essential. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, are key qualities as is the ability to lead and work as part of a team. Applicants must be qualified Nurses with a valid UK PIN.

Purpose of the position:
Have responsibility for all Nursing aspects of the daily operation of care delivery ensuring that it is in keeping with Milford Care's ethos and that:
1. All aspects of care afforded to each Resident is of the highest quality and is person centred reflecting their individual needs and preferences.
2. Care Plans are written with a person centred focus and are reflective of all aspects of their care.
3. At all times the Group's excellent reputation for high quality care is maintained and promoted in the local community.
4. The NMC Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times.
Responsibilities:
Professional and Management:
* Support the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager in order to ensure that the home complies with relevant regulations and legislations.
* Support the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager with visits from the CQC, NCC/DCC, CCG and other regulatory/inspecting bodies, and organise and plan agreed follow ups in regards to nursing and any care matters in the home.
* Leading a team of Care Assistants on shift to ensure that residents receive a high quality of care in a timely and efficient manner.
Clinical:
* Responsible for liaising / discussing and agreeing clinical care with the Clinical Lead.
* To control and give any medication as prescribed with proper monitoring of the drug, dose, time, route and person to whom it is given, following the medication policy and procedure laid out in the quality manual and clinical guidelines.
* Ensure medication documentation is completed with 100% accuracy at all times.
* Liaise with residents and their next of kin and ensure that they are informed of any changes to health/condition and kept abreast of any accidents or incidents.
Staffing:
* Support the Clinical Lead / Registered Manager in ensuring that Care Staff supervisions, performance appraisals and assessments are carried out and followed up on in order to identify and promote appropriate training and / or individual achievement requirements.
* Mentor new Nurses, Care Assistants and Care Leaders as required.
* Ensure that any staffing issues are dealt with by following the policies and procedures.
* Assist in identifying and assessing the staffing requirements to meet service user needs.
Training:
* Attend appropriate training as requested by the Clinical Lead, Registered Manager or Nurse Quality Manager.
* Actively engage in identifying your own training / developmental needs and communicating these to the Clinical Lead, Registered Manager or Nurse Quality Manager.
Administrative:
To complete Nurse checklists (AM, PM and Night) and report any issues to the Clinical Lead / Registered Manager.
Quality Assurance:
* Have regular discussions with the Clinical Lead / Registered Manager to discuss any management, nursing or clinical matters.
* Continually oversee and monitor all care and nursing aspects of the running of the home to ensure that high quality care standards are maintained at all times.
* Promote and uphold the home's policies and procedures.
* Ensure that any complaints received either from external sources or from within the home are relayed to the Registered Manager immediately and take necessary actions as required.
Care Planning:
* Ensure all Care Plans are evaluated monthly before the 20th of the month and are up to date and in good reflection of the care needs to each individual resident.
* Ensure proper, complete, legible and accurate records regarding the residents are maintained and continually updated.
