Job Responsibilities:
1. Rotate through all areas of the laboratory as required, performing designated duties in accordance with local working practices while maintaining high personal standards and conforming to Health and Safety regulations.
2. Perform routine and specialist biomedical investigations and participate in the scientific and technical activities of the laboratory section, including specimen reception functions under the supervision of Biomedical Scientists.
3. Assist with clinical trials, the development of new tests, and research & validation of equipment, ensuring compliance with policies required by regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management policies.
4. Propose changes to standard operating procedures to develop and streamline the service or reflect other changes.
5. Utilize the laboratory LIMS, Q-Pulse quality monitoring system, and other application software according to authorized protocols, including assisting in computer data entry in all areas of the laboratory.
6. Communicate efficiently, courteously, and clearly at all times, whether face to face, telephone, or electronic methods, referring inquiries to senior staff where appropriate.
7. Attend and participate positively in laboratory and other meetings as directed by Laboratory managers.
8. Plan and prioritize work allocations, training plans, and audits of both yourself and junior staff as directed by senior laboratory staff.
9. Provide supervision, training, and professional leadership to junior staff, monitoring their performance against laboratory standards and training plans.
10. Encourage active participation in continuous professional development and support the introduction of new technologies and/or systems as a change advocate and mentor.
11. Manage consumables and equipment within your allocated section, responsible for stock control audits and recording through approved channels.
12. Report all incidents and adverse events to senior staff and enter information in the CAPA module of Q-pulse in a timely manner.
13. Demonstrate ongoing competency against training plans and participate positively in CPD (continuous professional development) activities.
14. Be an ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion, communicating and role modeling the values and behaviors of SYNLAB.
15. Complete all statutory, mandatory, and essential training within specified timeframes.
Safety Responsibilities:
1. Observe safety regulations and attend mandatory fire, manual handling, and other courses as required.
2. Report all incidents and adverse events to managers and assist in investigations.
3. Participate in risk assessment monitoring.
4. Ensure that equipment within the area of work is maintained and operated as per SOPs.
