Location: London, Cheltenham, Central Manchester or Belfast
Salary: London: £37,281 or £38,602 (specialist pay band),
Cheltenham, Central Manchester and Belfast: £34,777 or £36,178 (specialist pay band)
Flexible Working: Due to the sensitive nature of the role, you’ll be based in the office five days per week. Full time hours are up to 37 hours, depending on location.
MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats. Through our protective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government, businesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. A role in MI5 means you’ll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouraging environment, making a real difference to UK national security.
We’re looking for Finance Officers to join us in a number of different teams, to help manage our internal spending, provide insights to help us make financial decisions, and support our ever-changing business needs. Being part of our finance teams at MI5 doesn’t just mean an exciting career where you’ll get all the support you need to grow. It also means using your skills to help keep the UK safe. It’s a purpose you won’t find anywhere else, filled with unique, one-of-a-kind challenges.
Depending on the team you join, you could be producing reports and completing analysis on them, offering financial advice, supporting month and year-end processes, or helping colleagues across the UK’s Intelligence Services understand and follow financial requirements.
Whichever team you’re a part of, you’ll find a welcoming, supportive workplace that’s committed to helping you fulfil your potential. With opportunities and funding available for further study, a dedicated buddy, and access to internal communities, support networks and mentors, you’ll have everything you need to build a long-term career in finance with us.
To apply, you’ll need to either have experience in a similar role, have achieved/be actively studying AAT or higher, or hold/be expecting a 2:2 or higher in a Finance/Accounting/Maths/Economics/Business degree.
You’ll also enjoy problem solving, working with others, and learning new things. You’ll have the skills to develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, an eye for detail, and a passion for what you do. And you’ll be motivated to help contribute to our overall mission of protecting the UK.
