THE ROLE & THE CANDIDATE
This role will suit a recently qualified ICAEW or ACCA (within commutable distance of Hadleigh, Essex) looking for an exciting challenge and a step up in their career.
It will provide the opportunity for an ambitious, energetic, and diligent individual to have a portfolio of clients built around them and to be responsible for managing the entirety of the company's relationship with those clients, hence the job title "Relationship Manager".
The client portfolio will comprise of small businesses and their owners totalling in the region of £300,000 in annual Gross Recurring Fees. There will be NO audit clients. By the time the portfolio reaches capacity, the successful candidate will have two direct reports, these being AAT qualified (or more) and of high quality.
Included in the successful candidate’s role will be:
1. Managing the relationship with the client portfolio
2. Scheduling and managing jobs
3. Reviewing annual accounts prepared by the team
4. Reviewing business tax returns prepared by the team
5. Reviewing personal and trust tax returns prepared by the team
6. Reviewing management accounts prepared by the team
7. Reviewing VAT returns prepared by the team (in complex situations)
8. Ensuring all jobs are completed within statutory deadlines
9. Ensuring all jobs are completed within our own self-imposed deadlines
10. Allocating work to team members
11. Managing team members on an ongoing basis
12. Annual appraisals for team members
13. Training and developing team members
14. Ensuring all jobs and associated fees are commercial
15. Ad-hoc work for clients (such as tax planning projects, tax advice, business advice)
16. Meetings with clients
17. From time to time there may be a small amount of preparation work where necessary
18. Oversight of correspondence with HRMC and Companies House
19. Ensuring that team members are correctly following the Operations Manual
20. Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement
