We are looking for Speciealist Healthcare Passenger Assistant, based in harlow Essex. Enhanced DBS will be required as well as a full UK Driving Licence. Job Overview: As a Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, comfortable, and efficient transport of patients with various medical and mobility needs. Working alongside drivers, carers, and medical staff, you will assist passengers who may require additional support during transit, including those with disabilities, dementia, or complex health conditions. Key Responsibilities: Passenger Support & Care: -Assist passengers with mobility impairments, ensuring they board, travel, and disembark safely. -Provide reassurance and emotional support to vulnerable passengers, including those with dementia, autism, or medical conditions. -Assist with securing wheelchairs, stretchers, and medical equipment during transit. -Monitor passenger well-being and respond appropriately to emergencies. -Maintain dignity and respect for all passengers, upholding patient confidentiality at all times. Health & Safety Compliance: -Follow all safety protocols, ensuring adherence to infection control and hygiene measures. -Conduct pre-journey safety checks, ensuring all necessary equipment (seat belts, wheelchair restraints, first aid kits) are in place. -Assist with manual handling tasks, following proper techniques to ensure safety for both passengers and staff. -Report any incidents, accidents, or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate authorities. Communication & Teamwork: -Liaise with drivers, carers, and healthcare professionals to coordinate safe transport. -Maintain accurate records of journeys, passenger conditions, and any incidents. -Communicate effectively with passengers, providing clear instructions and reassurance. -Participate in training and team meetings to enhance service quality. Essential Requirements: -Experience in patient care, passenger assistance, or a similar support role. -Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and patient handling techniques. -Good communication and interpersonal skills. -Ability to work calmly under pressure and respond to emergencies effectively. -Physically fit to assist with manual handling tasks. Desirable Requirements: -First Aid and Moving & Handling training (or willingness to undertake). -NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent). -Experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, or complex health needs. -An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
