Main Purpose:
The role exists to provide for the management of project quality arrangements across all aspects of the project lifecycle covering both internal and external activities, including the management of the overall Project quality team.
As opposed to the Project Quality Manager role, the Senior Project Quality Manager role requires a more strategic way of working, a greater depth of experience and knowledge in more complex programme / project environments and the ability to lead and manage significant project quality organisational structures.
Key Result Areas:
Proactively supporting and advising on all aspects of quality management on projects, including risks and issues.
Promoting a strong quality culture.
Undertaking quality planning, including the preparation of the project quality documentation and as required the writing of project specific procedures / local working instructions.
Ensuring Supplier quality arrangements are reviewed and approved / acceptance in accordance with project requirements, including Customer approvals.
Ongoing status monitoring of project quality documents including those relating to suppliers e.g. quality plans / inspection test plans.
Effective leadership, management and utilisation of assigned quality personnel.
Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external
Customers.
Establishing effective arrangements to monitor, analyse and report on quality performance.
Ensuring quality requirements are defined and implemented as part of the project induction and training process.
Establishing effective communication channels with Customers (internal and external) and Suppliers.
Developing and implementing appropriate auditing arrangements within the project, both internally and externally (e.g. Suppliers).
Ensuring any project quality non conformances / issues are effectively managed and closed out in a timely manner, including when required, conducting quality investigations.
Providing man hour/cost estimates as part of the quality input to bids/tenders and when requested provide estimates to complete to the Project Manager.
Monitoring progress against the project quality arrangements, identifying areas of concern to the project and where necessary escalate to Line Management.
Liaising with customers to understand their quality requirements / expectations.
Reviewing enquiry, tender and contract documentation with respect to customers' quality requirements and contract specifications, identifying any project specific requirements which fall outside the company quality system.
Liaison with project subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that the quality and specification requirements are understood.
Reviewing purchase requisitions / purchase orders / contracts for quality requirements input.
Participation in project meetings and contract review / handover meetings.
Carrying out supplier assessments.
Driving learning from experience in the interest of continual improvement.
As required, undertaking specific activities on behalf of the overall Client Nuclear Quality capability.
Knowledge:
Good working knowledge of the Nuclear industry.
Good working knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation.
Good working knowledge of the Customers quality requirements.
Good working knowledge and application of ISO 9001.
Experience:
Have a proven track record preferably gained within a similar role in the Nuclear or other highly regulated industry.

Other:
Ideally qualified to a HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. engineering.
ISO 9001 lead or internal Auditor trained.
Willing to travel to locations/sites throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
A full member (or working towards this) of the Chartered Quality Institute.
