Job summary
Queens Park Surgery in Bedford is looking to welcome a qualified and experienced clinical pharmacist into our busy practice, to play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. We are flexible and will consider part or full time hours to suit the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
1. Clinically assessing and treating patients, using expert knowledge of medicines, for specific disease areas.
2. Providing specialist expertise in the use of medicines and medicine information ( side-effects, dosage) across the practice.
3. Providing pharmaceutical medication review, and health education advice, to patients at the designated practices by face-to-face, telephone or notes-based review, as agreed with the practice.
4. Providing leadership on person-centred medicines optimisation and quality improvement.
5. Contributing to public health campaigns, including flu vaccinations, childhood immunisation and adult immunisation programmes.
6. Processing specialist treatment letters.
7. Supporting practice dispensary.
8. Processing hospital medication discharge letters.
9. Acting as a key contact in the practice, for all medication related queries.
10. Supporting improvements in clinical care, through practice-based audits and implementing change.

We are a very long-established practice working on two sites in Bedford, looking after 12,500 patients. We are also care taking another local practice in Bedford with a list size of 9,000 patients. Bedfordshire is a great location and has a reputation for excellent schools, beautiful villages and countryside, close to Milton Keynes for shopping, and 35 minutes from London by train.

Experience
Essential
19. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
20. Understanding and experience of working as a pharmacist in a GP practice setting, with a confident approach.
21. Experience of undertaking medication reviews.
22. The commitment to continue to learn and develop.
23. The ability to be adaptable and flexible and be a proactive problem solver.
24. Excellent inter-personal patient facing communication skills.
25. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
26. Will hold Personal Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Qualifications
Essential
27. Completion of Pharmacy degree and at least 3 years post-graduate experience.
28. Ideally will have Independent Prescriber status.
