Wage
£15,704 a year
You will be paid £15,704 in the first year, £19,048 in the second year, £23,008 in the third year and £27,348 in the fourth year. Please note if you are 21+ you will be paid the national minimum wage.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
During the first two years of the apprenticeship, you will develop skills in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. The final two years will allow you to develop advanced diagnostic skills and repair techniques to include but not limited to:
* Undertake, overhaul, repair or refurbishment work on the machines
* Carry out standard diagnostic tests on machine components
* Carry out planned maintenance and general repairs
* Complete commercial assessments and field inspections
* Check and record all parts and materials required for machine preparation work

Your training plan
We are offering a 4 year Apprenticeship and at the end of the Apprenticeship, you will gain a Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 standard. You will be supported to work alongside our Engineers to carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and rebuilds of heavy plant equipment. The successful candidate(s) will carry out a broad range of duties relating to the proper maintenance of equipment and be trained by Finning's in-house specialised Apprenticeship Training Team in our academy. Finning are the employer provider so all training is done on site.

Other requirements
Due to insurance requirements you must have a valid driving licence and have held this for 2 years by September 2025. The standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.
