Senior Nuclear Engineering Consultant
Salary range: £65,000 to £85,000 per annum
Location: Bristol, Gloucester, Harwell or Burton offices (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home)

Are you passionate about nuclear power technologies and want to see them helping the UK to reach net zero? Do you want to work with clients across the full sector, assisting to develop new nuclear (small and large), optimizing our current operating fleet, and efficiently decommissioning old plants? We are seeking experienced nuclear engineers, mechanical engineers, safety engineers, systems engineers, and physicists with a proven history of delivering complex technical work in the nuclear sector or similar industries.
The Role
In this role you will:
* Help clients understand and resolve complex technical challenges.
* Deliver high-quality work for clients and lead technical teams.
* Work across the entire nuclear sector, from developing designs and safety cases for new technologies to supporting safe operations of current stations and decommissioning sites.
* Apply your knowledge in your areas of expertise while learning new skills.
* Work on projects covering a range of technical disciplines and clients.
* Develop new business opportunities within the sector.
* Manage project delivery.
* Mentor and coach junior staff.
Current Projects in our Group
Examples of recent and current projects include:
* Using a plant simulator to model fault scenarios on a new nuclear plant.
* Supporting the Nuclear Safety Group at a defuelling site.
* Managing nuclear equipment on the HPC site and solving technical issues.
* Designing layouts of equipment in the containment building of an SMR.
* Authoring and verifying nuclear safety significant engineering changes.
* Using in-house codes to model a fusion device.
* Performing reactor physics calculations for AGR reactors.
* Delivering asset management plans for nuclear plant systems.
* Providing senior support and guidance to clients.

Requirements
Candidates must have a degree in Engineering, Physics, or Maths (or equivalent) and experience in nuclear or similar industries in one or more of the following:
* Producing/reviewing complex safety cases and strategy papers.
* Leading Generic Design Assessment applications for new nuclear technologies.
* Resolving complex non-conformances with equipment/components.
* Technical expertise in fault studies, probabilistic safety assessment, or severe accidents.
* Problem solving of technical issues in design and delivery.
