We're recruiting for a Deputy Dispensary Manager to join our hard working, supportive and dedicated Pharmacy Team in providing a medicines supply and optimisation service to patients within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
You'll work alongside our existing Deputy Dispensary Manager across our two dispensary sites: Weston on the Green and Kennington. The Dispensary Team is managed by Katie, our Dispensary Manager, and Kim, our Deputy Manager. The established team is made up of Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Admin.
This role would ideally suit a Pharmacy Technician who has experience in both Dispensary services and ward-based services and is looking to develop their leadership skills. However, we would welcome applications from Community Pharmacy Technicians.
This is an excellent management development opportunity. You'll be overseeing workflow, stock control, staffing levels, and assisting the Dispensary Services Manager to ensure staff are trained to the required level in order to deliver a safe and efficient service. You'll also deputise for the dispensary manager in their absence.
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to work in a dynamic and lively department? If so, come and join our Pharmacy team!
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the dispensing services from the pharmacy hub, including workflow, stock control, staffing levels, and rota planning.
2. Deputise for and cover appropriate duties of the Dispensary Services Manager during periods of leave.
3. Participate in the writing and review of dispensing related policies and procedures and implement changes as agreed by the pharmacy leadership team.
4. Ensure all dispensary staff are working within Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.
5. Support the conducting and documenting of risk assessments and audits, including turn-around times, workflow, patient experience, and regulatory requirements within the dispensary.
6. Responsible for the collection, recording, and collation of regular statistics reflective of dispensary activity and to actively use this information to identify areas for service improvement.
7. Participate in the Trust medication error reporting system, including near misses, and work with the Dispensary Services Manager and Medicines Safety Officer to create a culture of learning from errors.
Applicants must hold the NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services or an equivalent recognised GPhC qualification, and all applicants must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
What we are looking for:
1. A qualified pharmacy technician, registered with the GPhC, with a positive “can do” attitude.
2. Experience in hospital and/or community pharmacy with a good knowledge of hospital dispensing practice.
3. Excellent communication and people management skills.
4. Experience of mentoring other staff with the ability to motivate a team with a collaborative approach.
5. Ability to function effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Please refer to the job description attached for a comprehensive list of duties.
