Job Summary
The Senior Solutions Engineer for Utilities will play a key role in supporting the Sales team and Sales Managers by providing technical and industry expertise around our software products and the workflows they support to existing and potential customers. More precisely we are focusing on Electric Grid Operators (TSO and DSO) like National Grid or UK Power Networks in UK and Stedin in NL.
This role is customer-facing and supports the Sales team and industry executives during the product evaluation process. The role will be key in discussing and understanding customer requirements and to prepare and demonstrate our proposed solutions. You are expected to understand the workflows around design, construction and maintenance of the electricity grid in UK and Europe, and to be familiar with digital network models and GIS applications in this space.
Creating and demonstrating how the software works to solve real problems will require your ingenuity, creativity, domain knowledge and strong communication skills.
Our hybrid working policy allows for remote working. However, regular travel (at least once a month) to meet onsite with the key stakeholders of your customers, as well as with other IQGeo employees located in one of our Centers of Excellence (Ghent, Frankfurt, or Cambridge) is expected.

Duties/Responsibilities
The Senior Solutions Engineer supports the sales managers team to drive new sales and account expansion by:
* Prepare and validate demo environments, configuring general products and populate data to fit with the typical UK and European target customers (TSO and DSO).
* Pro-actively engaging in the sales cycle and take charge of the technical aspects and deliverables during the potential customer’s product evaluation.
* Meetings with customers early in the development cycle to fully appreciate and understand the problem the customer is trying to solve.
* Define and implement appropriate demonstrations to fulfil the customer’s needs.
* Confidently presenting these to the customer at the appropriate level.
* Complete ‘Proof of Concepts’ using the IQGeo software solutions, demonstrating the value they will bring to the customer.
* Contribute to the development of proposals and estimations.
* Represent the company at trade shows and conferences.
* Maintain a deep understanding of the IQGeo products and speak with internal and external key stakeholders about the most relevant new features and functionality that could be interesting for their specific business needs.
* Work closely with Product and Engineering on identification and tracking of product improvement requests.
Required Skills/Abilities
* Domain knowledge: Understanding the electrical grid and its digital model representation, as well as the common processes that grid operators care about.
* Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
* Ability to build Demonstrations and Proof of Concepts (POCs) and to present these to the customers (end users, technical experts, IT experts, senior management).
* Excellent listening and oral communication skills; the ability to understand customers and to think on your feet, to articulate technical solutions and how they can solve customer's business problems to all audiences from the very technical to non-technical.
* Skilled at building strong client relationships through excellent interpersonal skills, with a passion for engaging directly with customers to understand their challenges and objectives.
* Team-player: Great at cooperating with other team members. Not afraid to ask for help and equally eager to share knowledge whenever useful.
* Being open and flexible with regards to time management and willingness to travel.
* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Independent and self-organising: Like to figure out things/solve interesting new problems/enjoys challenging and multiple assignments and able to organize own activities considering business priorities.
* Fluent English language skills are essential.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
* A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering or Technical subject.
* Minimum 5 years of technology and industry experience within the TSO or DSO world.
