The Scottish Water Health and Safety team provides a vital service in Scottish Water and across our construction and contracting supply chain and partners to plan, deliver, measure, and continually improve H&S performance. Scottish Water’s Health and Safety function is structured in three teams: H&S Field Operations, H&S Systems and Compliance, and H&S Construction and Contracting, reporting to the Head of Health & Safety. We have made significant strides to improve the H&S services over the last five years. We are looking for a Health and Safety professional to help us continue this journey in the Field Operations team. What you’ll do You'll lead a team of H&S Advisors responsible for field operations, ensuring the team is adequately resourced, competent, and deployed at Scottish Water’s H&S strategic hubs. You'll work closely with the H&S functional management team, in particular the H&S Field Operations Manager and H&S Team Manager to develop and implement H&S programmes and campaigns and support strategic improvement projects. You'll support Scottish Water’s H&S Culture, identifying improvements and delivering positive H&S advice to field operations teams. You'll support implementation of field operations H&S objectives and targets in line with Scottish Water’s H&S strategic objectives. This includes: Ensuring Field Operations teams comply with Scottish Water and Regulatory standards and identify opportunities for improvements. Developing excellent working relationships with key stakeholders and providing valued support to internal customers and the wider H&S team Lead or participate in incident investigations, utilising Scottish Water’s Root Cause Analysis tool to identify immediate and underlying causes, and formulate appropriate remedial actions subsequently supporting the completion of any actions and identifying opportunities for lateral learning. Preparation and presentation of reports and statistical analysis for internal use, identify, manage, and track incident, audit, and review actions to completion within your business stream. Carry out regular safety leadership site visits examining compliance with Scottish Water and Regulatory standards recommending improvements to Field Operations leadership teams. Scheduling, management of and participation in internal H&S audits, reviews, inspections, and active onsite monitoring in relation to H&S What you’ll bring You’ll be an experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record of working across a wide range of H&S disciplines. You will have substantial knowledge and understanding of the H&S Legislation applicable to the water utilities sector and have already demonstrated the deployment of that knowledge to leading and delivering H&S improvement and business change. Along the way, you’ll have acquired your NEBOSH Diploma or working towards. Professional development in this space is key, so you’ll actively keep up to date with legislation, trends and innovations. Effective communication and inter-team working is essential in this environment. So, you’ll be a confident communicator and influencer who enjoys collaborative working and knows how to change and reinforce behaviours. Character is important to us. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970. The role covers the whole of Scotland, so you can be based at any of our main office locations, e.g., Fairmilehead, Stepps, Dundee, Perth, and Inverness. We operate a hybrid working model, so you can expect to spend some days at home, in the office and some days out on-site visits.
