Position Objective: GDLSUK requires a highly motivated and experienced Technical Publications Manager, reporting directly to the Integrated Logistics Support Manager. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in the production and maintenance of IETPs and current MOD Land Environment Publications. The role involves leading a team to achieve challenging deadlines, within a continuous improvement discipline to improve the ability to deliver under pressure. The candidate will be required to work across geographical and cultural divides to draw together a comprehensive support solution for the vehicle programme.
This position is based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Day to day support and management for the Technical Publications Team (Illustrators and Authors) both in the UK and remotely Canada and Spain.
2. Technical Publications Subject Matter Expert to the SV Program.
3. Planning, directing, controlling, and monitoring all Technical Publications and IETP activities in support of the SV program.
4. Liaison with the End Customer and intermediaries.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required Skills & Abilities:
1. Thorough working knowledge of the EAGLE Suite of applications and AESP production and structure.
2. Delivery of quality assured IETPs and other publications to schedule.
3. Provide a qualitative service to Support Engineering to ensure that all Technical Publication deliveries are met in support of GDLS-UK SV Program requirements.
4. Producing IETP and other formats documentation in line with the contractual requirements of the programme.
5. Manage technical publications discipline to produce IETPs in line with project demands and deadlines.
6. Technical approval and rejections.
7. Manipulation of data to produce various reports and managerial aids.
Education & Experience:
Required Education & Experience:
1. Thorough working knowledge of the EAGLE Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) database, PDM Software and the Common Source Database (CSDB) on the Raytheon EAGLE Publishing System (EPS) within a Defence or Engineering sector.
2. Thorough understanding and working knowledge of DEF STAN 00-600, S1000D and use of ASD Simplified Technical English (STE).
3. A good understanding of current MoD (Tri-Service) publications.
4. Ability to work independently on own initiative as well as within the team environment.
5. Thorough working knowledge of modern IT working practices.
6. Excellent communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
7. Experience of tailoring working practices / processes to satisfy contractual requirements.
8. Prepare written technical reports.
9. Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.
Desirable:
1. Familiarity with current British Army tracked and wheeled vehicles.
2. Familiar with relevant Defence Standards, DLF, Military Standards and EC Directives.
3. Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
4. Flexible working habits.
