POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Applications, the Clinical Applications Student works within a matrixed team environment. This individual will also assist Analysts and Specialists with scheduling and prioritizing work and will review all work upon completion for soundness of judgement and overall quality (i.e., adequacy and accuracy). The successful applicant will have experience in Information and Technology Solutions, systems, and workflow analysis.
The Clinical Applications Student executes tasks as assigned by following established policies and procedures. With the guidance of their manager and peers, they will liaise with the Clinical Applications & Informatics team as well as the Learning & Instructional Design Team and stakeholders to work through detailed operational project plans, analyzing requirements and providing administrative, clerical, implementation and/or processing support.
With guidance from the Manager, Informatics Specialists, Application Analysts, Digital Training Specialists, and Project Managers, they will ensure that all activities align with quality standards, project guidelines, corporate best practices, and regulatory standards and guidelines.
The Clinical Applications Student will be an active participant on the Clinical Applications & Informatics team and will be involved with testing, troubleshooting, and other duties as required. The Clinical Applications Student will assist with other activities in the Digital Solutions team as needed. The Clinical Applications Student is typically assigned routine to moderately complex assignments of varying duration. Assignments include, but are not limited to, clinical and/or business workflows, data analysis and reporting, development of communication and educational material, delivery of education material and hospital staff support, project control and monitoring, and project documentation tasks. Assignments can vary from smaller initiatives within a larger strategic project to operational assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Pursuing a Diploma/Undergraduate/Postgraduate in Health Science, Health Informatics, Public Health, or related field in eHealth, Business Administration
* Demonstrates a high level of effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to translate details into appropriate levels of abstraction and communicate technical procedures in a clear and precise manner to non-technical staff
* Ability to build consensus by listening and understanding different points of view, proposing acceptable alternatives, and influencing people’s opinions
* Above average familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
* Excellent people skills with a strong commitment to customer service
* Solid organizational skills to aid in the efficient execution of multiple, competing tasks
* Capable of independently problem-solving by working through ambiguity and complexity and finding creative alternatives that satisfy the needs of key stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and as part of the team

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supports Digital Solutions and hospital project initiatives
* Conducts unit/department rounding/at-the-elbow support to provide support to end users
* Responsible for identifying any project/resource risks throughout projects and escalating them on a timely basis to the Manager of Clinical Applications and any necessary stakeholders
* Helps to facilitate workflow mapping and design sessions with multi-disciplinary teams
* Identifies information and project requirements necessary to define solutions, including the development of literature reviews and environmental scans
* Analyzes, assesses, and documents stakeholder requirements and produces written abstracts
* Assists in the development and review of test scripts and plans, as well as the coordination and support of testing as required
* Provides necessary operational/project support, develops training material, coordinates education sessions, facilitates roadshows, and assists with developing communication material such as go-live posters to assist stakeholders in future state workflows
* Participates in meeting management tasks such as preparing slide decks, meeting minutes, and documenting any necessary decisions, action items, and follow-ups
* Supports with developing flow charts, SBARs, and functional specifications to translate business requirements into technical requirements
* Manages and maintains operational materials, ensuring all activity is entered/recorded, distributed, tracked, monitored, updated, and/or maintained in accordance with operational protocols, industry best practices, and regulatory standards and guidelines
* Other activities as needed within the Digital Solutions portfolio.
