Sports Centre Duty Manager
National Minimum Wage
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Suffolk New College Sports Centre management team as a duty manager, working on a regular shift rota as part of the team covering the operational hours of the Centre.
The sports centre is utilised to support college curricular activity in the day and is open to members of the public in the evening and weekends. Staff also run a student enrichment programme, within the sports centre, to give students opportunities to partake in sport outside their curriculum.
The facility consists of a four badminton court, multi-purpose sports hall that also accommodates football, volleyball, basketball, trampolining and a recently built twenty five station fitness suite. There are also two multi-purpose activity rooms that are used for martial arts, table tennis, children parties, teaching and meetings.
The centre accommodates Goals soccer centre within its facility and shares the outdoor five and eight a side ProTurf synthetic small-sided football pitches which is college control during the college daytime. The Goals operation is managed and staffed by their own team of onsite employees in the evenings and weekends.
As a duty manager you will be passionate about the leisure industry. A duty manager’s role is highly varied, you could be doing anything from unlocking the sports centre and setting up, to ordering supplies and checking everything is ready for your customers. Then, once the day is in full swing, duty managers ensure it’s all running as it should be – handling customer queries and ensuring the successful operation of the centre and equipment.
Duty managers are fast-thinkers, calm under pressure, responsible and a natural with people from all walks of life; this is your chance to progress as a duty manager.
