Hours: 37 hours per week X 40 weeks per year

About The Role
In the Student Mentor role, you will be an excellent role model to our students, supporting them to become independent learners that can reflect on their learning and find their own solutions. You will provide outstanding wrap around support with a focus on the students’ welfare, retention, attendance and progress. You will provide one to one pastoral support for high and medium risk learners and attend external agencies meetings. You will be reporting to Head of Student Experience and work closely with teaching and support staff as well as liaising with parents and external organisations when appropriate.
This role is maternity cover in the Health and Social Care department with an expected start date of Easter 2025 to the end of the 25/26 academic year (July 2026).
Key Responsibilities
1. Increasing the breadth of SHAPE enrichment activities and student participation in them.
2. Increasing attendance of allocated academy students, especially those at high or medium risk to meet or exceed agreed academy targets.
3. Ensuring exemplary behaviour of allocated academy students, especially those at high or medium risk in line with employer expectations.
4. Improving outcomes for academy students, especially those at high or medium risk and / or with protected characteristics and those in priority groups.
5. Improving appropriate liaison and communication with parents / carers of academy students, especially those at high or medium risk.
Skills & Knowledge
