Job Description:
We are looking for a senior operations leader to play a critical role in Thames Water’s management team.
This is an exciting high-profile role in which you will be defining maintenance delivery strategies and then overseeing and steering their delivery whilst providing professional, cross-functional maintenance delivery capabilities to the Wastewater and Bioresources directorate.
What you’ll be doing as a Head of Shared Maintenance Services
* As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence across the asset lifecycle, you will be responsible for continuously reviewing our approach to maintenance delivery.
* Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across our Asset, Operations and Capital delivery teams you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of asset availability across a range of critical asset groups.
* Provide strategic oversight of specialist programmes of work designed to increase resilience and improve critical performance outcomes for operational challenges such as pollution, blockages, and flooding.
* Identifying opportunities to optimise strategic ‘make vs buy’ decisions and implementing change.
* Act as a cross-functional SME, develop and manage a range of commercial contracts and frameworks relevant to the delivery of key maintenance outcomes across Wastewater and Bioresources.
* Taking significant responsibility for external relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and customers.
* Financial accountability and support of the development of capital and operational budgets, while focusing on sustainable efficiency plans.
* Oversee the implementation, continuous delivery and improvement of Thames Water’s Health & Safety policies.
Base location – this is a hybrid role with a flexible base location across the Thames Water region.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week.
Travel and on-site collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers will be a requirement.
What you should bring to the role
* Ideally, you will have a technical engineering background and demonstrable experience in a similar role within a utilities or large infrastructure asset maintenance sector.
* You will have a passion for health and safety with a strong track record in fostering a strong culture of health and safety excellence. (A NEBOSH qualification would be preferable).
* Passion for maintenance excellence with a strong track record in delivery, tight budgetary control and effective risk management.
* Demonstrable ability to proactively engage & influence stakeholders and develop sustainable, long-lasting relationships both with our business and with our critical delivery partners.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen with demonstrable ability to manage budget and to drive accountability for cost control.
