[Midlothian]
We are looking to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner who will be a key member of the HR team, providing HR support to the Children, Young People and Partnerships Directorate.
You will work in partnership with senior professionals in education and children’s social work services to fully understand their key business drivers and the impact these have on their people. As the lead HR professional in change management initiatives for your directorate you will be required to fully understand the relevant people policies, working in partnership with both teaching and local government trade union colleagues. You will also be required to be conversant with teachers and local government terms and conditions of employment as you will be expected to interchangeably advise on both.
Following the recent publication of the Midlothian Council Workforce Strategy this is an exciting time to join our team and become involved in our 3-year short term action plan which has ambitious strategic aims. As part of this action plan, you will be assigned project work to lead on based on your background experience and knowledge.
As an HR generalist you will champion equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your day-to-day work, you will be responsible for managing employee relations cases. You will also have management responsibility for two members of staff in the team, one of whom is responsible for delivering on health and wellbeing, therefore experience of this would be advantageous. You must have excellent communication skills, be organised, flexible in your approach and have a positive can-do attitude.
You must be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in HR practice and employment law, be degree qualified and have experience working successfully in HR roles in the public or private sector and have a minimum of associate membership of the CIPD and a commitment to continued professional development.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £52,369.69 per annum.
Responsibilities
Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.
