WHAT TO EXPECT
The Critical Concerns Team reports to the Product Integrity Director who in turn reports to the Product Engineering Business Excellence Director. The team is responsible for identifying issues related to JLR products where there may be an unreasonable risk to safety or compliance. This covers vehicles in use with customers, within the retail network, vehicle distribution, manufacturing plants and vehicles under testing and development within both Product Engineering and the broader business. These issues are identified as Critical Concerns and the responsible Critical Concerns Senior Engineer leads the investigation with the person most knowledgeable within JLR.
The Critical Concerns Senior Manager leads a team of 3 LL6's and 15 Engineers in ensuring robust and timely investigations are delivered to enable progression through the JLR Management and Escalation of Critical Concerns process.
The role of the Critical Concerns Senior Manager is to lead the department in Critical Concerns investigations and continuous improvement, against a backdrop of changing vehicle technology and systems (ADAS, EV etc).
THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities
* Jointly, with the broader Critical Concerns' Team, lead and manage in the methodical and robust progression of Critical Concern investigations, producing accurate records and working cross-functionally to drive prompt resolution by supporting departments.
* Develop and maintain a close working relationship with CoC representative Senior Managers to ensure new model development plans take into account learning from current model issues.
* Work with Critical Concerns Senior Engineers, CoC Engineers/Managers to help understand and resolve critical Concern issues.
* Work with and take guidance from Senior TS for Product Integrity on Critical Concerns technical and data matters.
* Ensure data robustness in incoming critical concern cases and Critical Concerns Engineers data analysis, prepare deep dive data for departmental monitoring.
* Identify Critical Concern issues for progression to the Product Safety and Compliance Committee (PSCC).
* Lead the development of the corresponding data, to produce reasoned cases and arguments in support of progression of the issue through to PSCC.
* In line with the department's customer love focus, proofread and approve responses to Critical Concern enquiries from global markets.
* Represent the Global Critical Concerns department internally, and externally, to JLR.
* Lead the activity to ensure robust progression of issues to the Product Safety and Compliance Committee and onwards to the Recall Determination Committee as required.
* Facilitate a team culture to maintain the team's mental wellbeing whilst dealing with the stressful work subject that the team can be exposed to.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Educated to degree level, in an engineering or appropriate science discipline.
* Ability to deep dive technical issues and articulate technical concepts to non-technical people.
* Chartered Engineer.
* Evidence of excellence in team leadership, interpersonal skills and ability to present and articulate a clear point of view at all levels within the business.
* Proficient in problem solving, analysis of data using Microsoft Excel, and Minitab where appropriate.
* Clear Communication of information using Word and PowerPoint.
* Previous manufacturing environment experience.
* Proven track record of successful technical team leadership.
* Experience of working in a customer facing part of the organisation, with an understanding of considerations in respect of Product Liability legislation and careful communication.
* A working knowledge of Quality Operating Systems processes, mapping and investigation tools and techniques.
* Working appreciation for manufacturing processes including, WES management, audit processes, CAL and audit processes including WCPA.
* Black Belt or Statistical Analysis Excellent capability.
* Proficient in AWS.
* Vehicle systems integration, functionality, diagnostic or Telematics knowledge.
* ISO 26262 Awareness and understanding.
* Broad whole vehicle system knowledge.
