Mates4Mates provides support and rehabilitation to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have been impacted as a result of their service, and their families. Importantly, Mates4Mates aims to raise awareness around the challenges many ADF members face after transitioning back into civilian life.
Through our Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centres and outreach programs, we offer a holistic approach to veteran health services, specifically through our four (4) service streams of Psychological Services, Physical Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Services, Social Connection Activities and Skills for Recovery Programs.
Position Purpose
The purpose of the Senior Liaison Officer role is to manage and lead a team of Liaison Officers to develop and implement outcomes driven service delivery activities and provide support to the Regional Manager.
The Senior Liaison Officer will play a pivotal role in connecting current and ex-serving ADF members and their families to services offered through Mates4Mates Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centres, online, outreach programs and district offices.
Key Accountabilities
1. Engage, pro-actively communicate, and build rapport with clients
2. Provide advice as a subject matter expert to the Regional Manager and Senior Management on areas within role responsibilities and advise to ensure organisational compliance and continued improvement
3. Support all operational and cultural change initiatives and take a leadership role in the implementation of these initiatives at a service delivery level
4. Take a leadership role in identifying, escalating and resolving operational issues as they arise to ensure outcome focused service delivery
5. Manage own performance, and direct reports to deliver work of a high standard in line with the Mates4Mates vision, purpose, values and Code of Conduct
6. Work with colleagues to maximise client care whilst maintaining privacy and consent protocols
7. Identify and manage positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners in accordance with Mates4Mates procedures, that will provide influence and champion the organisation’s position within the region
8. Work with RSLQ relevant business units to ensure operational and service delivery needs are met
9. Seek out opportunities and provide recommendations to the wider team, Regional Manager and Senior Management team on ways to increase our supporters. This includes increasing service reach, fundraising initiatives, corporate sponsorships and local in-kind support
10. Design and manage the delivery of social connection activities in accordance with the Social Connections Framework and relevant policies and procedures.
11. Encourage and action feedback around programs and service delivery from clients to ensure continual improvement, relevance and alignment to client needs
12. Ensure that social connection activities are actively promoted through various channels to clients and the Veteran community to encourage maximum participation
13. Work under the direction of the Regional Manager to deliver all Mates4Mates services in the region including the Physical centre requirements and Vehicle management
Essential for success
1. Relevant history of service in the ADF, or demonstrated close connection to, or experience working with current or ex-service personnel in a similar role which has created a strong understanding of the issues facing veterans and their families
2. Management experience including leading a team, assessing and managing risk, incident management, budget management and WHS.
3. Demonstrated high levels of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and sound decision making
4. Experience in training and mentoring
5. Understanding of the importance of upholding confidentiality and privacy rights
6. Flexible approach to work when unplanned demands of client need conflict with deadlines
7. Strong computer skills, including the use of web-based platforms and social media
8. Well-developed oral and written communication skills
9. Current Drivers Licence
10. Must hold current Working with Children check valid for paid employment in your relevant state or territory of operation
11. Ability to work weekends on a semi-regular basis
12. Strong and demonstrated awareness of inclusion and diversity
13. Experience and/or willingness to work within a client centered, outcomes driven, health & community service
Advantageous
1. Experience delivering social, community support, recreation or outdoor education services
2. Experience working with people who may be experiencing mental and physical health issues
3. Understanding of risk assessments and completion of relevant documentation and reporting
4. Formal qualifications in providing peer support, community or mental health services.
