Software Delivery Manager
Reporting of the Role
This role typically reports to a Senior Delivery Manager or a Head of Delivery.
Overview of job
This role forms part of the Delivery function within Global’s Transformation team.
The Delivery function focuses on the delivery of Global’s Technology & Digital product roadmaps.
You will be responsible for creating and executing plans to deliver key Technology & Digital initiatives, building effective relationships with Product, Engineering and other business and technical stakeholders.
You will work closely with one or more squads to identify and resolve blockers and issues, identify and resolve dependencies and ensure delivery is on time and on budget.

In the first few months, you would have:
1. Understood the inflight projects and the roadmap for your assigned area.
2. Gained a robust understanding of the operations of the business function(s) and supporting product(s) you will be working with.
3. Built effective working relationships and established clear responsibilities and accountabilities with the squad(s) you work with day-to-day.
4. Established effective ways of working across engineering squads that are dependent on each other to shore up delivery plans.
Responsibilities of the role
1. Work alongside the Product Owner and Tech Lead in your squad(s) to understand the ‘what and how’ of the product roadmap.
2. Facilitate creation of the plan (the ‘when’) for the squad(s) and manage its execution.
3. Work closely on a day-to-day basis with your squad(s) to ensure they are clear, unblocked and producing high quality outputs.
4. Identify risks and issues within your squad(s) and mitigate, resolve or escalate as appropriate.
5. Understand inbound and outbound dependencies to deliver the plan; track and resolve these dependencies.
6. Respond to and resolve issues as required in product development, testing, deployment or post-launch, including live incidents.
7. Communicate clear summaries of progress against baseline plans and any changes, including root cause explanations, to other technology stakeholders.
8. Champion good delivery processes, identifying the most appropriate model(s) for delivery and implementing improvements.
9. Contribute to a high-performance culture within your squad(s), with a clear sense of accountability for outcomes; celebrate success and learn from failures.
10. Track, understand and communicate changes in squad throughput and performance using metrics.
What you will need
1. Strong working knowledge of software development practices, methodologies and release lifecycles, balanced with an adaptability to apply the right approach for the right situation.
2. Experience in supporting the creation of project plans and delivery of product roadmaps.
3. A focus on outcomes and business value.
4. An ability to prioritise tasks based on importance and urgency.
5. An eye for detail and a willingness to understand the business context and technical content you are working with.
6. A keen ability to identify and resolve blockers and issues.

8. Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, ensuring squad members and other stakeholders are clear and seeking clarification where necessary.
