At Gregory Distribution Ltd, we are currently seeking a Milk Senior Transport Supervisor to work at our milk collection depot in Whitland.
The position of Milk Senior Transport Supervisor involves:
* Leading the coordination of the Milk operations, providing direction and communications with the supervisors to ensure a linked up operation.
* Providing leadership and supervision of day to day Milk operations, including operation debriefs with shift supervisors.
* Route planning of all vehicles to ensure that all vehicles and drivers under your supervision are routed effectively to maximise their utilisation at all times, maintaining service levels to customer and GDL requirements, whilst keeping control over associated costs.
* Ensuring that tankers operated are presented in a clean and tidy condition.
* Ensuring that drivers under your control are, at all times, dressed in accordance with company guidelines.
* Ensuring that vehicles, drivers and trailers are operating in compliance with statutory obligations regarding Law and Health & Safety.
* Ensuring that GDL and customers' paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
* Maintaining industrial relations and addressing local disputes quickly, ensuring your Senior Manager is aware of the situation when necessary.
* Being responsible for the first level of disciplinary procedures against staff under your supervision.
* Ensuring that customer hygiene requirements are followed and achieved.
* Answering the telephone in a courteous manner, dealing quickly with questions raised by customers or Senior GDL Management.
* Maintaining good working relationships with drivers and customers (including farmers) to ensure that any problems arising are handled amicably and through correct channels.
* Assisting in the recruitment of drivers, ensuring they are properly inducted and trained in operating procedures.
* Previous experience of working within the milk collection environment is desirable.
* Leadership skills are essential as you will be managing a busy team.
* Previous customer service experience is essential, both over the telephone and on email.
* Ability to communicate at all levels.
* Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
* Working to deadlines.
* Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
