Job Title: Chief Cardiac Physiologist / Scientist – Echocardiography Band: 7 Directorate: Acute and Emergency Medicine Purpose: Join our specialist echocardiography team at a Hospital trust in the South West of England. As a Chief Cardiac Physiologist/Scientist, you will provide clinical expertise in both acute and community settings. You will also contribute to the planning and implementation of future developments within the Echo service, ensuring the highest clinical standards. Key Responsibilities: Management and Leadership: Ensure the smooth running of the Echo service. Contribute to the planning, organization, and delivery of a high-quality echo service. Assist in staff management, including recruitment, retention, and training. Promote individual performance reviews and reflective practice. Maintain high professional standards and effective communication within the team. Scientific Responsibilities: Apply and develop scientific techniques safely and efficiently. Ensure quality improvement across all clinical, scientific, and technological activities. Support the integrity of scientific and technical knowledge within the Echo service. Clinical Responsibilities: Manage a complex caseload and provide expert opinions. Exercise professional autonomy and critical judgment. Develop and contribute to audit programs and local policies. Person Specification: Essential: BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent professional training. BSE accreditation. Expert understanding of echocardiography services. Professional registration with AHCS or equivalent. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Desirable: Practical experience in other areas of Cardiac Physiology. ILS/ALS training.
