Job Purpose
1. Evaluation and business development of strategic target markets globally in the renewables sector for the complete product range.
2. Establish an understanding of products required and optimise routes to market.
3. Act as Global Account Manager for major Renewable’s customers, e.g., GE.
4. Develop and review with the relevant POS teams and where necessary change and/or form relationships with representatives including possible Licensed Solutions activities.
Job Context
1. Work with our colleagues in all POS organisations and co-ordinate activity to ensure collaboration and common actions in accordance with the MTP for Renewables.
2. Record and report on the sales and prospects pipeline for the global renewables business proposition.
3. Co-ordinate activity, market allocation and access to the customer base through our POS businesses and local offices.
4. Consider local, Government, banks and other funding options to help secure business working with LE Finance functions.
Job Dimensions
1. The role will be based in Europe with regular travelling to customer visits and some visits to Lucy sites responsible for sales activity.
2. The role will contribute to the Global Renewables plan and MTP improvements.
3. The role will report directly to the Business Development Director – Renewables.
Key Accountabilities
1. With the support of LE businesses and administration, create and implement dedicated and focused plans for existing, and emerging/new customers in the Renewables sector in line with the Company’s Medium-Term strategic plan.
2. Work with the responsible sales teams, offices and representatives, to gather data for the current market and future requirements and price levels.
3. Gather / acquire current sales data to create a view of the target markets.
4. Help manage and gain appropriate Client approvals and/or specification compliance for projects and products.
5. Assimilate views and information on specific markets and customer requirements and co-ordinate the drive for general product developments.
6. Establish and report of any barriers to gaining market entry or increased market share.
7. Guide customer enquiries into the tendering teams and advise on what to equipment to offer and guide on pricing.
8. With regional staff/offices set outline targets for sales growth in accordance with the MTP.
9. Coordinate and carryout promotional activities in the target markets to facilitate introduction of new products.
10. Drive demonstrations and/or trial orders via representatives with major customers to gain experience and pre-qualification.
11. Review and where necessary form alternative potential routes to market- representatives/distributors/Licensed partners/OEMs/local suppliers of PSS/Inverter SS.
12. Work with the local offices and POs to focus on product cost reductions by checking optimal compliance to specification and suggesting local/economical sourcing of components.
13. Work with various “funding agencies” to secure preferential and sustainable payment options for projects and contracts.
14. Regular reporting of plans and activities.
Secondary Activities / Tasks
1. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/instructed in order to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Sales Department.
2. Health & Safety – adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
1. Extensive knowledge and understanding of contract law and terms and conditions.
2. Extensive and proven techno-commercial and direct sales experience.
3. Ability to negotiate contracts and close orders leading to profitable business for Lucy Electric in due course.
4. Detailed knowledge of both low voltage and medium voltage switchgear products and automation systems down to component level.
5. Previous experience of Business Development and Marketing in the renewables sector.
6. Previous experience of handling customers both directly and via agents or distributors.
7. Good command of the English language.
8. Computer literate with excellent command of MS Office.
9. Excellent understanding of the key business issues in end user accounts.
10. Solution ‘Selling’ including understanding of finance options.
11. Electrical or mechanical engineering degree/HND.
12. Ability to communicate effectively in a one on one or group environment including at Board level.
13. Ability to demonstrate competent negotiation skills.
14. Dynamic Presentation skills.
