Job description
Senior Lecturer in Higher Education
The University of Portsmouth is a global employer of choice where exceptional people create, share and apply knowledge that makes a difference.
Experience the pride of being part of a select group – one of only four universities in the south-east of England to achieve a prestigious Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Additionally, we proudly rank among the top 140 universities globally in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings.
Ambition, Responsibility and Openness drive our every endeavour. Join our esteemed institution with a proven track record of success, and where dedication to excellence is key. We want people to make their mark in a professional community that truly values people, innovation, and achievement.
The Role:
This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Centre for Academic and Digital Innovation (cadi.port.ac.uk) at the University of Portsmouth. Established in September 2024, CADI is a new, dynamic department at the heart of the University’s commitment to enhancing learning and teaching. We are a collaborative and future-focused team, working across ten strategic priorities that include authentic assessment and AI, awarding gaps, inclusive learning design and the development of the Portsmouth Pedagogy. Our work is already making a difference at the University and across the HE sector – and we are just getting started.
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable educator to join us as a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education. This is not a narrow specialist role; we are seeking a generalist who thrives on variety and is excited by the opportunity to support learning and teaching enhancement across a wide range of topics and contexts. In particular, we’re looking for someone with experience of the Professional Standards Framework and supporting Fellowship claims. Holding a D3 Fellowship yourself would be a real asset, ensuring you can contribute fully to our Fellowship community and APEX our experiential route to Fellowship (apex.port.ac.uk). At Portsmouth, our ethos is to Teach Well, Consistently Well – every student, every session, every time – and we’d love to welcome a new colleague who shares that ambition.
If you would like more information about the role or an informal chat please contact: Dr Andy Clegg, Head of Academic Innovation, andy.clegg@port.ac.uk
We adopt flexible hybrid working, usually at least 2 days on campus, depending on priorities and business needs.
