About the Role:
A key member of the actuarial function, you will be required to help support and drive forward BAU and project initiatives, working collaboratively with other members of the actuarial and finance teams. In addition to playing a key role in enhancing the team’s capabilities, the candidate will have responsibility for owning key aspects of the quarterly reserving process, stakeholder management, syndicate reporting and working with the Actuarial Management team on analysis to generate and support reserving results. The role is broad with exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders and other actuarial functions, project development and quarter/off-quarter activities. The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
1. Quarterly reviews of reserves in respect of business written across international platforms.
2. Support setting of key actuarial assumptions and methods for both GAAP and SII purposes.
3. Support reporting of results to key stakeholders, Group and into Lloyd’s.
4. Contribute to reserving and capital discussions with underwriting, pricing, claims, finance and reinsurance to improve underwriting results. Timely delivery and communication of results.
5. Contribute to actuarial analysis which supports the business planning process and communicate the results to internal and external stakeholders.
6. Work with pricing actuary’s, claims and underwriters for sharing information, influencing and to get buy-in on reserving assumptions used.
7. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
8. Collaborate and support the actuarial function in continually enhancing and developing the GAAP reserving and SII processes across the International platforms.
9. Develop tools and outputs to leverage reserving data in order to improve underwriting performance and deliver insights and valuable MI to key stakeholders and senior management.
Qualifications:
1. Making good progress towards actuarial qualification.
2. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Maths, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business or a similar field.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
1. GI reserving experience.
2. Proven ability of working independently and collaborating with others.
3. Excellent IT skills, MS Excel, SQL, Power BI and ResQ.
4. Strong technical and model building experience.
5. Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to simply communicate modelling process and results with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through reports or presentations.
7. A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to learn and develop.
