We are currently recruiting for a Network Engineer to join our team in the Thames Valley and Home Counties area.
This role will be field-based and you will be expected to work and travel within the Thames Valley. As the successful candidate, your role will be supporting our customers and protecting the environment. You will be overseeing our contractors and ensuring they are working safely and efficiently. Working alongside them to resolve defects on our sewer network.
This role provides an interesting working environment as no one day or one job is the same. You will be required to liaise with the environment agency, councils, and customers. This role will suit someone self-motivated, has strong interpersonal skills, and enjoys the responsibility of making quick accurate assessments and decisions whilst on site. You will form part of an extremely supportive and trusting team.
Due to the nature of this role and the area you will be covering you can be based and several Sewage Treatment works sites depending on your location.
What you’ll be doing as The Field Network Engineer
1. The day-to-day operation of the waste network includes resolution of sewer collapses, blockages, flooding to customers’ homes, and pollution to watercourses.
2. Taking personal ownership of customer issues i.e. responding to queries, and complaints, and resolving issues.
3. Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards during repairs.
4. Acting as local network expert providing information for risk assessments and sharing information regarding network risks and other health and safety issues.
5. Attending meetings with customers, councils, and the Environment Agency to discuss how best our business can support them.
6. Providing critical on-site information to support the wider Operations team.
7. Supervising contractors to ensure that they are working safely and adhering to company policies & procedures.
Base Location: Reading (STW) - RG2 0RP, Swindon - SN2 2DJ or Banbury - OX16 4RZ, Depending on your location.
Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours Monday to Friday plus the inclusion onto an on-standby Rota for which you will receive additional payment.
What you should bring to the role
8. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
9. As you will be spending your time dealing with customers and contractors, you need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. There is a need to be self-motivated with a passion for problem-solving and making a difference.
11. Basic IT skills are preferable but not essential.
12. Clean manual driving licence.
13. A strong emphasis on and passion for great customer service.
14. It is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work and work effectively should an event occur in the field.

15. Competitive salary paying between £24,400 to £32,800 per annum depending on your level of experience depending on skills and experience.
