SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role:
SEN Teaching Assistant:
As an SEN TA with a specialism in SEMH, you will provide tailored support to students who require additional assistance with their emotional and social development. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to create a nurturing learning environment that enables every child to thrive.
Your role will involve working one-on-one or in small groups with students who may experience behavioural difficulties, anxiety, or other emotional challenges. You will play a vital part in de-escalating situations, implementing behaviour strategies, and fostering a positive mindset in students to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
SEN Teaching Assistant:
• Provide one-on-one and group support for students with SEMH needs
• Assist with emotional regulation strategies and behaviour management
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support plans
• Encourage positive social interactions and help students build self-confidence
• Support children in their academic, social, and emotional development
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and liaise with parents/carers
Application Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs (school or alternative setting)
• Strong behaviour management skills and a patient, nurturing approach
• A good understanding of SEND frameworks, EHCPs, and de-escalation strategies
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills• A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
