Service Director of Resources and Business Development
Care is Central are seeking an experienced, proactive and diligent professional to join our Strategic Leadership Team as a Service Director for Resources & Business Development.
Care is Central are an expanding adult social care provider operating across Central Bedfordshire with a current portfolio of Independent Living services and Residential Care homes. We are soon to expand into learning disability services and beyond, so this is an exciting time to join the organisation. This role is an exciting new role for the Company, offering the post-holder the opportunity to gain a broad range of experience, utilise a range of skills and help shape a fast-growing organisation.
The Basics:
* This is a full time (40 hours) and permanent position
* The role reports to the Managing Director of Care is Central
* The role will be part of our Strategic Leadership Team comprised of the Managing Director, Service Director for Quality & Compliance and Service Director for Operations.
* You will have a choice of work locations to base yourself from as well as working on a hybrid basis.
* Regular travel between our services and offices in Central Bedfordshire is required (Expenses paid, of course)
* Participation in a senior level on-call rota may be required as the organisation grows.
* The salary is up to £55,000 dependent on experience.
Overview of the Role:
Business Development Responsibilities:
* The role is responsible for managing our business development and growth initiatives, actively seeking out new opportunities within the social care market and working closely with commissioning bodies, particularly with our local authority, Central Bedfordshire Council.
* End-to-end project management working with a large teams of internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of this role as we open new services, and/or transition new services into the organisation.
* Planning, designing, delivering, and monitoring projects, identifying requirements, timelines, and costs with The Strategic and Central Leadership Teams and stakeholders.
* Assign project tasks based on staff skills and experience, ensuring timely delivery.
* Provide a range of high-level and detailed project status reports to the MD and other stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain close, positive working relationships with external stakeholders.
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to ensure CiC and CiCR meet service gaps and compliments the Social Care Provider market.
People & Culture Management:
* Lead on organisational HR and employee relations matters, working with our external HR advisory service.
* Line manage our People Support Administrator
* Develop and lead on initiatives that promote an open, supportive, fair and ethical culture.
* Oversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding and staff development processes, ensuring we have a highly-skilled and engaged workforce.
* Develop and implement an ED&I strategy to further promote our inclusive culture.
* Develop and lead an annual performance cycle, including appraisals and setting objectives linked to our strategy across the organisation.
Resources Oversight:
* Line manage the Payroll and Finance Officer and work closely with our company accountant, acting as the key link to the Central Bedfordshire Council finance team.
* Ensure all service activities are supported by sustainable business models.
* Support services to explore business efficiencies and make savings where required.
* Identify and explore new business opportunities to meet local need and support financial sustainability.
* Develop and implement strategic business development plans.

* An excellent communicator, both written and verbally
* Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Care management software
* Social Care Qualification at Level 5 or above
* A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and/or qualifications in management are desirable
Previous Experience:
* Proven experience in project management and service implementation, including planning, execution, monitoring, and stakeholder communication
* Experience in leading and managing teams.
* Significant experience in Business Development, ideally within the social care sector.
* Experience in managing and coordinating HR and finance functions.
* In-depth knowledge of the social care sector, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
* Experience in managing culture change programmes, promoting an inclusive and positive work environment.
