The Digital Archivist is a qualified professional, delivering a managed digital repository to ensure the sustainability, development and ongoing accessibility of BT’s historical collections - our corporate memory. BT’s Archives preserve and provide access to this rich heritage, with our pre-privatisation records being classed as public records under the Public Records Act.
We have a statutory responsibility to preserve and make these records available, as well as a duty under our Heritage Policy. We are an accredited service by The National Archives, with our collections recognised by UNESCO and Arts Council England.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Delivering and shaping the digital preservation repository programme. Developing and embedding BT Archives’ acquisition programme, transferring content into the digital repository.
Maintaining a close relationship with BT’s data governance, inputting expertise about Archive requirements and digital preservation.
Analysing complex digital data models to work out the most effective means of preserving, managing and integrating our content across our digital repository, collections management system and other areas where Archives data is held.
Manage our digital asset management tools to ensure wider digital reach for our collections.
Deliver and shape wider collections management policy, strategy and plans as needed, ensuring standardised flow-through of data from collections management system to digital repository
