Role : We are seeking a Production Planning Manager to oversee the creation and maintenance of our manufacturing schedules. This role involves close collaboration with the Production/Engineering Team, Commercial Team, and Supply Chain Team to ensure optimal production and supply schedules with a strong customer focus. Additional to the production planning you will hold responsibility for all raw material planning, this will include supplier interaction and purchasing functions. The role will be responsible for the local recycling teams and will be focused on the development of our Polypipe 360 initiative driving the reclaim element of supplier returns. Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and review production plans and scheduling documentation. Manage MRP runs and set production plans, ensuring adherence to these plans. Collaborate with various departments to establish schedules that allocate resources effectively. Analyse current and anticipated orders against inventory. Integrate sales orders with master schedule and coordinate resources to meet delivery dates. Lead forecasting meetings and planning sessions with key departments. Report on production throughput, scrap, and plan adherence. Produce weekly management reports and drive a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure Materials are planned and procured to support the production plan ensuring that the quantities and appropriate to support a flexible and dynamic production schedule. Lead the Recycling function planning the reprocessing of scrap and returned products. Plan and control the flow of returned 360 product into the recycling process and the facilitate the sale of unwanted polymers (scrap & pellet). Complete all mandatory training. Ensure that you and your team are aware of and work within the company’s latest policies and procedures. To analyse and report performance based on the identified KPI’s to Leadership Team. Ensure that you are fully aware of our financial planning requirements including budgeted costs and/or forecasted costs to ensure that the actual business performance is on plan or better than planned. Provide strong leadership of Health, & Safety issues by setting the high standards that will drive a continued improvement in safety performance, with a clear target of causing zero harm, with safety at the heart of everything we do. Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety Regulations. Work closely with the companies HS&E advisors seeking guidance and advice if required. Carry out regular audits such as Managers Level 2 Audits and Manager Employee Engagement Tours (MEET), to ensure visibility and engagement on Health, Safety & Wellbeing issues. Ensure a plan is in place for the necessary training and development of the team which is documented in an up-to-date training matrix, that can be used to demonstrate competency and future training requirements. Ensure all team members are kept up to date with relevant business information. Ensure everyone understands their role and how they can excel. Ensure regular monthly reviews are in place to keep track of progress against identified key strategic projects. Creation of Supply & Distribution plans both short and mid term by monitoring the latest sales data and stock impacts – Update IFS as required. Measure OTIF delivery from manufacturing Assist in the management of inventory to prevent aging and obsolescence Provide insights and forecasts in collaboration with the rest of the business to align production with market demand Define inventory classification and relevant strategies for products to align service goals Requirements: GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or Equivalent Standard Graduate Degree or Equivalent would be desirable. NEBOSH / IOSH Management / Leadership qualification would be desirable Previous experience working in Production Management including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing. Significant experience in manufacturing planning & Scheduling Good knowledge of and experience in ERP systems preferably IFS Previous experience managing a multi-skilled team and multi-shift operations in Manufacturing Experience of liaising with third party suppliers and consultants Knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics Good financial understanding and a track record of delivering against budgets Previous experience of working with Plastic manufacturing and/or fabrication and assembly would be desirable but not essential.
