WHO WE ARE
Moffat Distillery is Scotland’s first wood-fired distillery in over two centuries, nestled in the stunning Southern Upland Hills. We do things differently—human-powered, rustic, and deeply traditional, crafting whisky and spirits with fire, patience and care. Our small team is passionate about creating exceptional spirits while staying true to sustainability and craftsmanship.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a hands-on Brewer/Distiller to join our team and be part of something special. This is a physical, immersive role that requires dedication to the craft, attention to detail and a passion for whisky and brewing.
As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for:
• Brewing & Distilling – Mashing in, fermenting, distilling and ensuring quality at every step.
• Cask Management – Filling, monitoring, and maintaining casks for maturation.
• Warehouse and Equipment – Organising stock, cleaning, and maintaining production equipment.
• Record-Keeping and Compliance – Ensuring all processes meet safety and industry standards.
• Occasional Visitor Interaction – While this isn’t a customer-facing role, willingness to assist with tours or answer visitor questions is appreciated.
WHO YOU ARE
We’re looking for someone with:
Experience in brewing, distilling, or fermentation (or a strong willingness to learn).
A hands-on, practical mindset—this is a physical role in a production environment.
A keen eye for detail and quality control to maintain our high standards.
Problem-solving skills and adaptability—every day in a small distillery is different.
A passion for traditional distillation and working with fire-powered stills.
PREFERRED (but not required):
Experience in the craft spirits industry.
A degree in Brewing, Distillation, Chemistry, Physics or a related field.
