We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking and dynamic pharmacy technician to lead the medicines management team at the Hinchingbrooke site. The post holder will be responsible for the development of the clinical medicines management service and daily management of the medicine management technicians (MMTs). Alongside the Peterborough based specialist, you will be involved in standardising our services cross-site to provide the best level of patient care.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, be a team player and be able to lead the team forward in developing the service. We are looking for someone with a drive for improving services with quality improvement at the centre of the role. You will work alongside both the clinical and pharmacy teams in ensuring the service promotes safe and effective care whilst striving for innovation. Knowledge of JAC dispensing software is desirable but not essential.
The post holder will require registration with the GPhC, previous hospital medicines management experience and experience of leading people and projects.
The candidate will also be responsible for supporting the dispensary with accuracy checking and required to work on the weekend rotas.
We are currently in the early stages of building a brand-new hospital at the Hinchingbrooke site so the successful candidate will also be able to be involved in designing the pharmacy ward services as this develops.
Main duties of the job
You will take professional responsibility for the delivery of comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management/optimisation services to patients through medicine management technicians as part of the clinical pharmacy service.
As an innovator, you will oversee the development and implementation of innovative patient focussed medicine management technician services to meet or exceed national benchmark standards in liaison with the service improvement manager, senior management team, divisional clinical leads and patient support groups.
You will have the opportunity to lead on audits and projects while reporting and presenting pharmacy clinical performance and service developments at departmental meetings as well as regional and national clinical meetings.
Using this knowledge and skills, you will ensure the delivery of specialist education and training programmes for medicines management technicians and support workers while maintaining clinical supervisor competency.
Within the line management duties, you will have recruitment and selection responsibilities as well as undertaking staff performance reviews, set objectives and create a personalised development planning.
