We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious, and ambitious pharmacy technician to participate in and support the provision, development, and leadership of our well-established team.
This is a fixed-term post for 12 months for maternity leave cover. Applications are welcome from candidates interested in full and part-time hours, and from technicians practicing in community pharmacy who wish to gain hospital experience.

Job responsibilities
* To ensure the pharmacy dispensary is managed and operated in accordance with departmental policy and in line with Trust and patient priorities.
* Provides day-to-day management for the group of technical staff.
* To participate in the recruitment and selection of dispensary and other pharmacy staff including the chairing of selection panels.
* To maintain and develop the dispensary policies and procedures ensuring that these are adhered to by all staff using the dispensary.
* To be responsible for the management of Controlled Drugs in the dispensary.
* Ensure that agreed performance targets are met and that monitoring arrangements are operated and reported appropriately.
* To maintain and develop effective communication structure for pharmacy dispensary staff.
* To manage the undertaking of dispensing and checking competencies by pharmacy dispensary staff including pharmacist, pre-registration trainees, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers.
* To maintain and develop dispensary induction programmes for new members of pharmacy staff.
* To lead in the operation of dispensary aspects of clinical trials including liaison with trial nurses and sponsors.
* To actively manage the dispensary stock and holding including regular stock takes and reviews.
* To undertake departmental surveys and audits when necessary, to act upon the results to improve the quality of services provided to patients.
* To ensure all dispensary staff are trained to use the pharmacy automation systems.
* To ensure the optimal use of the pharmacy automation system including management of system faults, liaison with system suppliers.
* To ensure that all dispensary staff are trained in the use of dispensary aspects of the pharmacy computer system.
* To ensure that dispensing errors are reported and reviewed in accordance with trust policy and that where necessary remedial actions are agreed and implemented.
* Provide medicine management support to Ashgate Hospice.
