Hours: 40 per week.
Shifts: Monday to Friday, consisting of rolling 3 week pattern of days (06:00 – 14:30), afternoons (14:00 – 22:30) and nights (22:00 – 06:30)
Salary: Base pay £23.87. Twilight & Nights premia payable for hours between 7pm - 10pm & 10pm - 6am. Overtime paid after 40 hours worked per week. 30 minutes unpaid lunch break per day.
The role ensures that all plant and equipment on site is repaired and serviced to recognised standards and as identified within the preventative maintenance schedule ensuring the minimum downtime of sortation equipment.
Role Overview
The role of a Senior Operations Maintenance Technician is challenging and requires an individual with excellent organising and communication skills as the role involves:
1. Organise team maintenance and required equipment to ensure that operation and maintenance of machinery is completed safely, in the shortest possible time within the time scale demanded by operational necessities.
2. Monitor staff attendance and take relevant remedial action where necessary.
3. Monitor the performance of the maintenance team through continual supervision and completion of all documentation as required.
4. Monitor workflow, be aware of potential problems and take immediate corrective action through delegation, own action or by referral upwards.
5. Effective liaison with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders and Control Room to resolve difficulties and enquiries.
6. Ensure smooth transition of traffic across the machine paying attention to Health and Safety.
7. Timely and accurate completion, on a nightly basis, of all required information recording sheets.
8. Ensure that all operational and maintenance procedures, as detailed in the Group Operations Manual, are adhered to in order to maintain customer service levels to the required standard.
9. Ensure that all equipment is returned to its designated area after use and maintained in a safe and efficient working order, with an adequate system for reporting defective equipment in use.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification and have the following skills:
1. Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations.
2. Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance background.
3. Ability to read electrical schematic drawings.
4. Understanding of PLC controlled equipment.
5. Flexible approach to shift patterns.
6. Understanding of health and safety legislation.
7. Full driving licence.
