Here at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust we have an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist in Echocardiography to join our team. Delivering cardiac and respiratory diagnostics across Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and the new Community Diagnostic Spoke and Hub in the heart of the Halifax and Huddersfield communities.
Calderdale & Huddersfield is a large District General Hospital with an ever growing cardiology diagnostic department which is invested in developing the future workforce for Cardiac Physiologist/Healthcare Scientists.
The post holder will work as a key member of the Cardio-Respiratory Service, by competently carrying out various diagnostic procedures in various health care settings.
• To work independently performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients across the Trust.
• To provide training and training support to clinical physiologists and Speciality Doctors
• To provide clinical support and reporting supervision with reporting support/feedback to all disciplines in training within the team including unaccredited clinical physiologists and Speciality Doctors.
• To work in partnership with Cardiology Consultants and Registrars performing Stress Echocardiography, Transoesophageal Echocardiography and Contrast Studies.
• In partnership with the appropriate Team Lead, is responsible for and maximises clinic capacity with regularly monitoring and auditing of the IP/OP requirements
• Alongside the appropriate Team Lead and in conjunction with the Oncology Research leads, provide clinical and technical support to the Oncology Trial teams to provide a high quality cardiac monitoring service for all trial participants
• Participate in departmental audits as required by the Clinical Leads.

Clinical Duties
• Performing and reporting transthoracic echo to BSE standards.
• Performing / assisting in Dobutamine Stress Echo, Transoesophageal Echo, 3D and Contrast Studies as required.
• Working at all Trust sites as required.
• Providing Immediate Life Support within the department and throughout the Trust premises as required.
• Responsible for the care, maintenance and safety checks for all equipment – ensure daily checks are run on all equipment and report/repair when necessary in line with the department protocols.
• Adhering to departmental protocols and procedures following Trust and national guidelines.
• Is competent in manual handling skills for patients and equipment.
• The ability to recognize and act upon significant abnormalities.
• Prioritization of their own workload /caseload and all junior staff.
• Reporting to and liaising with medical colleagues about patients requiring medical review.
• Training and development of student physiologists, specialty doctors and those undertaking echo training and observation within the department.
• Is able to carry out, without supervision, and produce a factual report on the following:
Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography
Advanced Echocardiography
Routine ECG
