Enerveo is one of the largest contracting businesses in the UK, offering a broad scope of services including mechanical, electrical, high voltage, electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure installation, test and inspection services, as well as street lighting.
Job Title: Protection Engineer SAP
Base Location: East Anglia
Salary: The equivalent salary will be £82,882.80 for a 45 Hour week. Overtime paid for hours over 45 per week.
Working Pattern: There will be a 1 in 5 standby rota for weekends, call outs paid at an additional rate. Perm role.
What will I be doing in this role?
As a Senior Protection Engineer / Authorised Person, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our electrical systems. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of protection schemes, as well as authorising and supervising work on electrical networks. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety standards. You will be working with a team of skilled Engineers, SAP's and supporting staff across all aspects of the LV/HV industry.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Installation, commissioning, and fault finding on new and older protection, automatic transfer systems and various control systems.
2. Calculating and imputing protection sections.
3. Co-ordinate commissioning plans, schedules, and checklists to ensure all commissioning activities and performance testing are executed efficiently.
4. Development of commissioning procedures.
5. Protection relays, synchroniser, transducers, primary and secondary injection testing, with the use of various test/commissioning equipment.
6. Commissioning and testing of varying HV Assets using associated equipment to include; Omicron Campano 100, Omicron CT Analysers, Megger Sverker 750, Baur PGK 25/80E, Various Primary and Secondary Injection sets, Schneider ACB Tester.
7. Compliance with Enerveo Safe Systems of Work and safety rules.
8. Ensuring that all necessary reports are completed in a timely manner.
9. Support tendering and project managers with technical advice and customer communications as and when required.
10. Facilitate a safe working environment during high voltage working.
11. Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Enerveo and its customers.
12. Maintain all authorisations in accordance with our safety procedures and industry best practice.
13. Provide rapid restoration of supply in fault situations.
14. Provide technical advice to field staff, estimators, project managers and SAPs.
15. Sanction the issue of safety documents.
Essential Requirements:
1. Ability to read and understand all levels and types of electrical drawings, SLD and control relay logic design documentation.
2. Demonstrable experience to produce clear and professional job reports.
3. HV Switching.
4. Knowledge of HV power system protection obtained through experience, networking, research and other means of professional development.
5. Knowledge of power system automation (SCADA & control).
6. Knowledge of legislated rules and codes governing the business and industry.
7. Knowledge of the transmission system performance and fault analysis of power system.
8. Demonstrated competency in the application of HV protection skills, judgement and experience as a stand alone decision maker.
9. Demonstrated ability to apply sound time management methodology to manage own work schedule/projects.
Qualifications/Authorisations needed:
1. Full driver's License, willingness to travel within the East Anglia Region as required.
2. Qualified as a SAP to 33kV.
3. Authorizations gained from a DNO or private networks- DNO preferred. Ideally WPD, SSEN or UKPN.
4. Training - Emergency first aid, SMSTS.
5. ECS Card.
6. Willingness to attend call outs.
