Job overview
The post holder will support the C&W Cancer and Clinical Diagnostics System Leads and Transformation Managers to ensure effective delivery of NHS cancer and diagnostic priorities across the C&W system. The Project Lead will work collaboratively with various primary care, secondary care, local authorities, and external stakeholders to facilitate and lead projects to secure system-wide transformation.
The Project Lead role will ensure workstreams are planned and managed effectively, taking the lead in ensuring their successful delivery against agreed timelines and plans, and for the management and reporting of risk. This includes overseeing the implementation and delivery of projects against the key milestones within agreed timescales.
Main duties of the job
A key dimension to this role will be to lead projects within the workstreams with their engagement of primary care, community, and secondary care clinicians in the complex management agenda to ensure they are heavily involved in the development of plans and any service pathway design and that there is the necessary capacity and capability within the system to deliver both the local and national targets.
* Has a key responsibility to lead project management and provide service analysis, service redesign and capability building expertise to the services that fall within Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (ICS).
* Actively contribute to the delivery of the ICS programme and project key objectives providing professional project leadership and training to allocated workstreams.
* Manage and implement an effective and planned programme of activities utilising agreed tools and skills including those based primarily but not exclusively on lean thinking ensuring that progress can be tracked, and risks mitigated.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To support the System Leads with the implementation of the system strategies across our health and care system, contributing to short, medium- and long-term transformation objectives, achieving quality outcomes.
* Support the System Leads to identify service transformation opportunities which encompass new ways of working, pathway redesign and innovation within day-to-day operations.
* Prepare, plan and lead agreed projects to support workstream objectives and proactively follow up agreed actions.
* Work closely as needed with partners to identify vulnerable/unsustainable services and support the process to enact any changes needed to improve these services and enhance patient care across our ICS footprint.
* Ensure internal and external key stakeholders, including patients and the public, have effective opportunities to engage in service transformation programmes/projects/lean events, enabling them to contribute, influence and progress the implementation of improvements to facilitate collaborative working and mutually beneficial outcomes.
* In conjunction with Project and Clinical teams and external partners, support the implementation of pathway changes across complex organisational boundaries.
* Undertake risk analysis of allocated programmes/workstreams in the context of risk to the organisation’s clinical and business objectives.
* Maintain and apply up to date knowledge of service improvement including change, government initiatives, national policies, philosophies, tools, and processes.
* Prepare regular updates and complex written reports to the Director of Transformation, Head of Transformation, and the Transformation Board on the progress of projects against key objectives and quantifiable impacts on patient experience, productivity, and efficiency.
Person specification
Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
* Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools such as Prince 2 and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or equivalent experience.
* Experience of working in public sector organisations i.e., NHS, Local Authority, Police, Fire Service etc.
* Current knowledge of health and care systems in England.
* Proven track record of working on service transformation.
* Experience of working in a complex, multidisciplinary organisation.
* Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
* Experience of training and coaching.
* Experience of working a successful change management initiative.
* Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders, including updates to relevant boards, and a broad range of stakeholders as required.
* Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate contentious and sensitive performance information and change requirements.
* Excellent facilitation, leadership and change management skills.
* Manage resistance to change and the ability to deal positively with challenging situations.
