Role Overview:
The Design Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating design aspects throughout the project lifecycle. This includes supporting the Design Manager to ensure project designs are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. The role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate design work, ensuring alignment with project budgets, timelines, and specifications.
Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and support the Design Manager in fulfilling Principal Designer duties.
Promote safety, sustainability, and buildability through design.
Prepare and manage design plans and briefs, collaborating with external design consultants.
Bridge communication between construction and design teams, ensuring surveys and investigations meet project needs.
Oversee design outputs to ensure buildability and address technical queries.
Provide input to construction planning, including consents and stakeholder management.
Support internal and external review processes, ensuring quality and compliance in deliverables.
Identify, record, and manage design changes, risks, and opportunities.
Ensure all design outputs are ‘right first time’ and facilitate the preparation of handover documentation.Essential Requirements:
3+ years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure.
Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (or currently working towards it).
Strong understanding of temporary works, including design responsibilities and coordination.
Awareness of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong time management and project design management skills.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and staff.
