Description Role: Helplines Practitioner Salary: £25,000 per annum Location: Homebased but must live or have recently worked in Leicester Contract/Hours: Full Time 37 hours a week - Fixed Term Contract – until 30th June 2026 - Service hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm. A bit about the role Parent Talk is a national service that provides support to parents through an online webchat, WhatsApp and telephone support platform and as part of a team of Helpline Practitioners. This role is specifically to support parents who live in the city of Leicester. A sound knowledge of the city, its population and its services is essential. How you'll help to create brighter futures You will be home-based and join our national team but specifically supporting families in Leicester as a Helplines practitioner to support parents/carers with parenting, family life, their children's needs or their own wellbeing. As a Helplines Practitioner, you'll be: Providing high quality parenting support to parents through the Action for Children’s Parent Talk service via online webchat, WhatsApp and telephone. Delivering complex and specialist interventions with parents/carers on a 1:1 basis. Retaining accurate and contemporaneous records, using various IT systems to capture information and to produce written reports and present these, as necessary. Ensuring a safe and positive work and service environment is achieved through compliance with all safeguarding, safer recruitment, health and safety policy and procedure. Let's talk about you. Our job description for the Helplines Practitioner outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are: A relevant Level 3 qualification or above, for example, in social care, early years, young peoples mental health, SEND. A sound knowledge of the city of Leicester, its population and its services. Experience of working within a multi-agency social care, early years, education or health environment and applying safeguarding procedures. Experience of delivering parenting interventions/family support Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload within required guidelines. The ability to work on own initiative. The ability and willingness to work remotely. Excellent IT and digital skills and to be quick to learn new IT systems and processes.
