Main duties of the job We have an exciting opportunity for an Workforce Specialist BI Analyst at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The role will have a primary focus on business intelligence, data science, planning, reporting, information analysis using digital solutions and developing the workforce systems. The Workforce team provides advanced analysis, planning, data management and reporting internally and externally for the UHS as well as publishing findings and suggestions on areas for further interrogation or development. What You’ll Do Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will act as a lead analyst to provide specialist analytical support and proactively inform internal or external stakeholders about the UHS workforce. This will be achieved by identifying, manipulating and analysing data from a range of sources across the Trust (and benchmarking with other trusts where necessary) to draw expert conclusions. You will be responsible for making recommendations designed to support workforce planning, lead on all data quality and recording issues that may have a direct effect on UHS performance, staff and patient experience. Using advanced analytics, data science tools and techniques to monitor and report on key performance indicators and metrics that relate to strategic objectives and understanding. There is also a requirement to review and develop the business intelligence service to improve access to information, quality and reporting elements to fulfil our local and national reporting and planning expectations. What We’re Looking For The post holder must have knowledge and experience of the NHS, particularly with Workforce systems, Workforce data sources, BI tools, national reporting and planning requirements and possess excellent communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines are key along with the following: Project management skills and able to lead people or services where required Excellent ability to design, negotiate and deliver flexible creative solutions within key timescales. High attention to detail, customer facing skills and an enthusiasm for working collaboratively with others; Experience in gathering and analysing information and requirement and proficient in the use MS Office and the suite of applications; The ability to communicate highly complex information clearly at all levels across the organisation both written and verbally; A flexible and organised approach with a proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multi-task, seeking advice and escalating issues where appropriate. Significant practical experience in a systems-support and business intelligence environment. Knowledge and experience with PowerBI Significant experience and understanding of NHS and Workforce operations / systems /planning Experience in a complex administrative environment with considerable experience of setting up systems and processes. NHS Healthcare experience, including the ability to understand and interpret Workforce NHS data definitions, systems and tools Statistical, mathematical, and analytical skills, with good attention to detail Experience in gathering, analysing and producing complex data using business intelligence tools Able to support the decision-making process, often taking the lead in areas of expertise.
