Main duties of the job
1. Review, develop, deliver and promote efficiency and stability across the Server and Applications estate are protected and secured.
2. Act as a subject matter expert/technical lead for designing and implementation of the Server and Applications, ensuring the environments (live, test) is optimal at all times by monitoring and tuning the database environment, to ensure system integrity and performance.
3. Develop and apply specialist knowledge in Server and Application environments, acting as an SME ensuring all environments are maintained with the agreed service levels ensuring availability, capacity, resilience and security.
4. Analyse, troubleshoot, respond to and resolve Server and Application problems and complex issues to ensure system availability and that application and system outages, downtimes and slowdowns are resolved as quickly as possible to provide the service back to staff.
5. Assist in establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management, security, maintenance and use of the systems.
6. Assist on the technical aspects of Server and Application related projects to ensure delivery within time, budget and quality, including raising any risks/issues with proposed mitigations.

8. liaison with third party support where necessary to complete the work successfully.

Qualifications
Essential
9. Relevant Microsoft Certified Professional modules or Technical Degree qualification or equivalent experience
10. Evidence of continual professional IT development with attendance at appropriate technical courses
11. Minimum 5 years' experience within an IT Server Support environment or similar
Desirable
12. Should have achieved Advanced European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
13. Project Management Qualification (Prince2 Foundation or equivalent minimum)
14. MCP

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
16. Demonstrable experience as a Server Analyst working in a 3 rd line technical support environment
17. Understand the functioning of Active Directory and LDAP directory services
18. Compentence with the use of DHCP and DNS services
19. Significant experience building and testing Microsoft Group Policies
20. Understanding of the fail over capabilities of servers and networks
21. Must have knowledge of DR Strategies, back up strategies and restore procedures.
22. Must have knowledge of VMWare and Virtual Machines
23. Knowledge of support Storage infrastructures
