Purpose of the Role
The role of the Material Controller is to plan and forecast material requirements for various projects in line with the production plan and company needs, ensuring the availability of parts and materials with emphasis on 'On Time Delivery in Full'.
Job Role and Duties
1. Raising and placing purchase orders in line with the materials and consumable forecast requirements.
2. Providing updates on material status and issues (internal and external supply) while taking appropriate actions and expediting to satisfy production plans and company demands.
3. Updating schedules and stating material readiness within the appropriate time frame, in accordance with the System of Work.
4. Ensuring that material issues are resolved in a timely manner, kept up to date, or escalated where appropriate.
5. Maintaining stock levels in line with the production plan using delivery schedules.
6. Monitoring the level of available stock.
7. Cross-referencing Bill of Materials to ensure understanding of all products required and ordered accordingly.
8. Re-ordering for known stock damages and lost stock.
9. Representing the Materials Function at meetings regarding designated areas.
10. Resolving invoice and booking in queries in a timely manner.
11. Liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to form good relationships.
12. Participating in the assessment of departmental policies and procedures periodically to identify improvements and confirm that they are appropriate for business needs.
The Person:
1. Previous Stock / Material Control experience is essential.
2. Excellent analytical skills.
3. Interpersonal skills - verbal and written.
4. Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
