Day Units & MPU Qualified Nurse (Maryport) - 30 hours per week
The day units are nurse-led, highly skilled clinical sites aimed to prevent patient admission to hospital and to facilitate timely discharge. Working largely alone and unsupervised, you will assess patients, plan and implement care, provide advice and education to patients, carers, and colleagues, and maintain associated records while carrying out complex nursing procedures.
Delegated management tasks including line management of team members are also part of the role. Flexible working is required to meet the needs of the patient group. As part of the Community Collaborative, we provide 7/7 nursing services between 8 am and 8 pm.
Main Duties of the Job
* Prioritise referrals and manage workload.
* Deliver scheduled care according to work rotas.
* Support colleagues across all Day Unit & MPU sites and cross-cover rotas if required.
* Assess, deliver, and evaluate all aspects of clinical nursing care based on best practice.
* Participate in training, competency achievement, and delivery of new nursing interventions to further develop the Day Unit Service.
* Ability to cannulate patients and administer IV medication and blood products as prescribed and per Trust Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Manage central lines and deliver a variety of complex nursing procedures.
* Maintain a sound knowledge base of medication and its effects on conditions.
* Responsible for appropriate and cost-effective nurse prescribing.
* Administer medications, reviewing and monitoring effects.
* Communicate closely with patients and all parties involved in service delivery.
* Order and manage specialist nursing equipment effectively.
* Work within safe parameters, referring to SOPs, CGs, Policies, and national guidelines.
* Liaise and communicate effectively with a variety of specialist clinicians and other referral sources.
